Cemetery
The Norristown Jewish Community Center Cemetery in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania is operated and maintained by congregation Tiferet Bet Israel in Blue Bell, PA. The Norristown Jewish Community Center Cemetery was established in 1905 as an exclusively Jewish cemetery for members of the congregation and their immediate families. The cemetery is located at 300 Fairfield Road, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462. Unveiling
An unveiling of the gravestone is typically held between nine months and the one-year anniversary (first yahrzeit) of a loved one’s passing. Please contact the clergy for resources and guidance for this ceremony.
Yahrzeit
Yahrzeit plaques are usually placed in synagogues and are lit on the anniversary of the person's death, known as the Yahrzeit. This is a time for family and friends to come together to remember the person and to say prayers for their soul. The lighting of a Yahrzeit candle is a common way to mark this occasion and is a symbol of the soul's connection to God.
