Welcome to our community!

We are a warm and welcoming Conservative congregation serving 300 plus families in the greater Philadelphia area of Montgomery County. Experience our special warmth through our Shabbat services, Torah Study, holiday celebrations, lifecycle events, Jewish education, Early Childhood, Religious School, Youth Groups & Adult Learning.

We invite you to join us at any number of our programs - daily minyan services, classes, Shabbat and holiday celebrations. Once you get to know us, we are confident that you will want to make TBI the Jewish home for your family.

Effective July 1, 2020, we removed the traditional dues model and changed to a flexible, updated approach: Heshbon Lev.

What is Heshbon Lev ?

To make membership in our synagogue affordable and welcoming for all who wish to belong, we removed the traditional dues model and changed to a flexible, updated approach we call Heshbon Lev (Giving from the Heart). This new structure places its confidence directly in the hands and hearts of our members, and changes supporting our synagogue from an obligation to a mitzvah, allowing members to give from the heart.

We look forward to welcoming you in whatever way you choose to participate with our Congregation. Whether you and your family attend regular minyanim, Shabbat services, High Holiday services, spiritual events, social gatherings, early childhood education or our religious school, there is always something here for you.

So How Much Should You Give?
In accordance with our mission to be a truly “warm and welcoming contemporary Conservative synagogue [...that] draws together a diverse community,” we use a flexible model called Heshbon Lev (Accounting of the Heart). This structure removes the traditional barriers to shul participation and places its trust directly in the hands and hearts of our members to contribute an amount you feel meaningfully supports our wonderful community. It allows for those struggling with hardship to give as they are able while remaining fully involved in TBI life. It also means that those who are able to give more can take pride in the opportunity to help our community thrive. Click here to make your pledge online or mail it to our main office at 1920 Skippack Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422.

The average contribution needed to sustain our congregation is approximately $3,600 per household. Last year, we averaged approximately $1900 per household. We successfully closed the gap thanks to our strong endowment and the incredibly generous support of our angel donors. For the future success of our congregation, we need a budget that reflects the capabilities of our entire community and does not rely as heavily on a small group of individuals.

To better help you visualize the impact of your giving, this year we are offering various contribution levels, all with the same purpose of rejoining or joining TBI. You are an important part of our community, regardless of contribution level and, as always, you may elect to give a different amount based on your household’s situation. Our ask is that however much you give to our collective efforts, it be meaningful and come from your heart!

Building & Security Contribution

In addition to your Heshbon Lev contribution, we have a set minimum fee that goes directly toward the safety and security of our building.  It is an annual fee of $360 that pays the expense of keeping our building open, secure, and safe for our community.
