Director of engagement

What is the job of a Program Director?  Is it event planning? Program planning? Engagement? Logistics? The answer is all that and so much more. My job has even changed since I came here three years ago and continues to evolve.  When I first started the position was as an interim to manage all programs previously planned. I was here to execute others’ ideas and to help make sure the programs were successful. As planning began for the next programmatic year my opinions and ideas were of course included, not only because I was a valued member of the team, but because of my background and experience.

I have been in the program planning field for more than twenty years.  In addition, I have been working in the Jewish community my entire career.  I have worked at camps, the JCC, USY and synagogues, allowing me the pleasure of working with all ages, from preschoolers to retirees.  This wide breadth of experience is part of what makes me a natural match for TBI.

So what does a Program Director do?  Your Program Director plans and organizes weeks and weeks in advance to make sure every detail is attended to and nothing is left undone. When you attend a TBI program you are experiencing the finished product. The-behind-the-scenes work that happens, which is a mystery to most people, ranges from designing a flyer, doing the marketing, getting the room set, getting all supplies ordered and set up, working with caterers and other vendors.   The final payoff for me is enjoying everyone having a great experience.

Thanks to your feedback our programs have changed and evolved over the last 3 years.  We offer more congregational dinners prior to holidays. We have included a Rosh Hashanah seder on the second day as part of our children’s programming.  And we have expanded our adult education programs.

We can’t plan without you. We need your suggestions and feedback.  My door is always open and I welcome speaking with people about ways we can take our programming to the next level. I want to connect and be engaged with you.

Watch your emails for details about our upcoming programs and events.  I hope to see you there!
